Building a Wellness Brand Forced Me to Face My Own Habits
This week, I had a reality check.
As the founder of a wellness brand, I spend a lot of time talking about health, nourishment, and showing up for yourself. I believe deeply in holistic wellness—not just because it’s the foundation of my business, but because it’s something I genuinely value.
But this week, I had to pause and ask myself a hard question:
Am I actually living the wellness I encourage others to prioritize?
That question wasn’t easy to sit with.
Sea moss has absolutely earned its place in my wellness routine. It’s something I believe in, something I use, and something I proudly share because I know the value of supporting your body with nutrient-rich nourishment.
But here’s the truth:
One healthy habit doesn’t equal overall wellness.
Taking sea moss daily doesn’t replace balanced meals.
It doesn’t replace hydration.
It doesn’t replace quality sleep.
It doesn’t replace stress management.
And it definitely doesn’t replace protecting your peace.
As someone who works full-time while building a business, I know how easy it is to fall into the habit of pushing through.
Skipping meals because there’s “too much to do.”
Running on caffeine and determination.
Putting everyone else first.
Calling survival mode productivity.
And while ambition can build beautiful things, it can also quietly disconnect us from ourselves if we’re not paying attention.
This week, I had to do what I’m now calling my own CEO Wellness Audit.
I asked myself:
Am I eating meals that actually fuel my body?
Am I drinking enough water—or just pushing through the day?
Am I getting enough sleep to recover?
Am I managing stress in healthy ways?
Am I creating space for peace?
Am I practicing wellness… or simply talking about it?
The answers gave me clarity. Not guilt. Not shame. Just clarity. Because the goal isn’t perfection. The goal is alignment.
I created Serenety By Rene around the belief that wellness should support the whole person—body, mind, and soul.
And if I’m being honest, that reminder needed to come back to me too.
This isn’t about having it all figured out.
It’s about being accountable enough to check in with yourself and honest enough to make adjustments when something feels off.
Because many of us—especially ambitious women, entrepreneurs, caregivers, and professionals—become incredibly skilled at caring for everyone else while neglecting ourselves in the process.

But here’s what I know:
You can build something meaningful and still need to rebuild parts of yourself too.
That doesn’t make you inconsistent.
That makes you human.
So this week, I’m choosing better.
More intentional nourishment.
More hydration.
More rest.
More peace.
More alignment.
And if you’ve been needing a reminder to check in with yourself too, consider this yours.
